Google SketchUp
Google SketchUp (free) is an easy-to-learn 3D modeling program that enables you to explore the world in 3D. With just a few simple tools, you can create 3D models of houses, sheds, decks, home additions, woodworking projects - even space ships. And once you've built your models, you can place them in Google Earth, post them to the 3D Warehouse, or print hard copies. Sorry, Mac version coming soon.

Unitedstreaming Accounts
Hello Cadre members. I will be sharing with you all, at our upcoming meeting, about the Discovery Educator Network. Discovery Education (aka Discovery Channel) is the parent company for unitedstreaming.
I want to make sure that all of you have access to this product and the videos, images, and resources available to you. Your district or ESD probably provides this service to all of you, even if you are not aware of it.
Please let me know, by email, if you need to know how to access your unitedstreaming account. I can provide you with your user name and password or with a passcode to set up your own account. I'd be glad to help you out!

Videoblogging
Rather than writing, I can share my thoughts, learnings, or tell a joke using my auditory and visual skills. This could be valuable for me the learner. What do you think? Ok so my what you hear doesn't match what you see...

Google Earth
Just thought if you haven't seen this new mapping tool from Google, that you may want to give this a try. I've been using Worldwind, but this seems a bit faster.
Download Google Earth from earth.google.com, then install, and start viewing the world. Check out some famous landmarks, tilt the view, or turn on the buildings option for a 3-d perspective.

blogs and hosting
I just discovered WordPress and BlueHosting. Anyone else use something like Drupal, WordPress, Moveable Type (that is what is driving this blog)? At BlueHosting it seems they will set everything up for you! Unlimited databases and HUGE space. I have set up a Moveable Type site although I needed help with the configuration file - couldn't understand the directions... Anyone have other resources?

Visual Ranking Tool
The Visual Ranking Tool is the latest of Intel's Online Thinking Tools.
Seeing Reason had some good applications to Cause and Effect thinking but Visual Ranking took my understanding of online thinking tools and collaborative PBL (Project Based Learning) to the next level. Take a look at the tool and click on tryout the tool. Then click the Compare icon at the top to compare your Visual Ranking with others in real time. To setup a free account click the Teacher Login link on the right side of the webpage. This is the kind of communication that occurs when we give students time and space to think and collaborate in a higher-order way.

If you missed the Seeing Reason workshop earlier this year within the context of the Oregon ED Tech Cadre you can check it out and try out the tool in the same way that you can with Visual Ranking.
